Frequently Asked Questions

What is TunkRank?

TunkRank is a tool for measuring influence on Twitter based on how much attention your followers can actually give you.

How do you measure influence?

See the original post by Daniel Tunkelang.

Why is my score showing up as 0?

Scores are assigned a value of 0 until they are calculated. Normally scores for users who haven't been computed will be queued for calculation automatically. If it seems like it has taken a while and the score has not changed, you can use the refresh button to manually queue the calculation.

What value of pretweet do you use in the TunkRank calculation?

We assume a constant retweet probability of 5% for all users. We are working on estimating this on a per-user basis.

Is your tool open source?

No, the code for this website is not open source. However, the formula for the TunkRank algorithm is available.

How do I register to use the API?

You can use the API without registration but will only be able to request 500 scores per day. You can register for unlimited requests per day by filling out this form.

Does it cost anything to use the API?

No, not at this time. If that changes in the future, existing users will be given ample warning.

How many API hits do you allow per day?

Anyone can access up to 500 hits per day per IP address. If you would like to be able to make unlimited requests per day, please request whitelisting.
